STANDARDIZE AND AUTOMATE PROTOCOLS TO IMPROVE CLINICAL OUTCOMES

Many practices create templates for physician access within their EMR systems to help streamline and expedite referrals to existing practice ancillary divisions. But these templates still require the physicians to manually select those services. The result:  items are often omitted that could have impacted the patient’s outcome — and the practice’s bottom line.

From a post-operative perspective, if templates are created and approved by providers on the front end, those services can be reviewed as part of the preoperative consult and ensure the same standard of care is offered to every patient.

Patients can be directed to the DME division to obtain devices prior to surgery, and likewise be sent to the PT department to schedule appointments for postoperative therapy, as defined by the physician.

Adoption of these practices can help avoid gaps in services and standardize protocols for each provider, ensuring timely access which will in turn help ensure successful patient outcomes.
